“When the roof reconstruction took place between June – November 2005 the total
payment came to €1.6m. Both the parish & the diocese undertook to help with the repayments. With this in mind we
took on a term loan of €800,000 which amounted to €960,00 including interest to be repaid over a ten year period
at a repayment of €8,000 per month.
It was clearly understood from the outset that the parish would pay €4,000 & the other €4,000 would come with
assistance from the Share collection. However, due to the economic downturn when the diocese was approached for
their assistance of €4,000 per month we received a letter stating that the diocese was no longer able to assist
us with the loan.
As we are not in a position to pay €8,000 per month ourselves we have had to renegotiate the
loan. With the approval of the Archdiocese we renegotiated a term loan of €650,000 over a period of twenty years.
Consequently, our repayments will vary and it will be in the region of €4,000 per month. We hope to be able to
make some extra payments depending on our yearly balance.”

How much have we collected & repaid ?
The Amount collected on Sunday 22nd April 2012 was €1,447.
The opening Balance in August 2010 was €650,000.
Interest to November 2011 - €27,837.30 (charged each Quarter)
Monthly repayments up to January 2012 - €62,135.00
Outstanding Balance as at the end of January 2012 - €615,702.30

The money collected is due to the wonderful generosity of our parishioners.
We are most grateful to parishioner, Joe O’Neill, who’s idea it was to hold a Ceilí on
St. Patrick’s Night 2012. He also organized the music. We would also like to thank those who attended
and had a wonderful night. The Ceilí raised a welcome €665 for the Roof Fund.
We are most grateful to The Seafield Singers and our own St. John's Gospel Choir for
the concert they held in the Church on Saturday 22 October 2011 with proceeds of €3,435.50 going to the Roof Fund.

The special Christmas Cards for 2007 showing the beautiful stained glass window of The Nativity from the Oratory
which were sold by our Repository Shop raised €2,213.00 for the Roof Fund. We would like to say a special
thank you to all those who purchased Christmas cards.
A very big "Go raibh maith agat" to Miriam Walshe & her team for organising the Moore & French Concert
on Friday 9 Februaray'07. The concert raised €730 in profits for the Roof Fund and a special thank you to everyone who supported this worthy cause.
We are delighted to say that the Christmas Concert held on 17 December 2006 and
performed by Cantando raised €2,000 in profits for the Roof Fund.
A very special thank you to Centra, Ballinteer Road, who ran a promotional campaign and contributed €5,130.00 27 November 2005.
Also, to all who supported the fund raising evening organised by some parishioners involved
with St. John's GAA Club who donated €2,350.00 to the Roof Fund on 4 December 2005.
