Message from Father Richard Behan, P.P.

May I take this opportunity to say thank you for the very warm welcome, which you afforded me, when I took up my appointment in mid July. I would like to say a very special word of thanks to Fathers Jim and Paddy for their kindness in helping me to settle in and to thank them for their continuing support and much valued advice. I wish Canon Battelle (as he is now known) every happiness in his retirement as Pastor Emeritus and thank him for his generosity in continuing to celebrate Mass as part of the Parish team. I look forward to working with Fr. Jim and hope to gain a lot from his vast experience in the Diocese. While speaking about the priests may I also say a word of thanks to Fr. Joe who celebrates the 11 a.m. Mass on Sundays and to Fr. Kizito who celebrates the 7.30 p.m. Mass each Wednesday evening.

Fr. Matty has gone to the Parish of Kinsealy, where I am sure he will be very happy. I know that he is missed in Ballinteer and that he contributed a lot to the Parish during his 5 years here. The Parish Pastoral Group advises me that they would like to arrange an evening of farewell for him and I hope to be able to announce this very soon. I would like to add my thanks to him for his support and kindness both now and over the years that I have known him, I have always found him to be a “Barnabas” figure (a man of encouragement).

There are many people who have made my settling into Ballinteer very easy but they are too many to mention by name. I do, however, wish to thank our Sacristan, John, for his help and for “training me in” and to Tommy for doing the necessary repairs in my house. Suffice to say I have forgotten a lot of people but my intention is to let you all know how grateful I am for your kindness and I look forward to spending the next 9 years here among you.

Ballinteer Parish Cell Community

Cell Community meetings in our Parish every second Wednesday are Centres of Prayer and have started back after the Summer break.

Our parish is one of many in Ireland (North and South), U.K. and worldwide where Cell Communities come together in small ‘home’ groups once a fortnight for a time of prayer and praise. We strive to live the Christian life with the help and support of each other. Cell meetings are happening in our Parish for the last fifteen years. There can never be too much prayer and it is now widely recognised that parish communities benefit greatly from dedicated prayer efforts. Cell Community is an open forum where all are welcomed. If you are new in our parish or would like to ‘Come and See’ a Cell meeting please call 085 7788395 now.
